The shop

A blacksmith's shop, restored, with the espresso machine where the forge used to be.

The building on End Street is an old blacksmith's shop, and it's been thoughtfully restored rather than gutted. The brick stayed, the timber stayed, and the hard old bones of the place are still very much the point.

What's been added is room to sit. There's a spacious contemporary fitout inside, a large open lawn out the front, and an undercover outdoor hearth for when the weather turns. It reads as one place that bridges the town's history and the way people actually use a cafe now.

You'll find us set back from the street behind the gate. There's parking out the front and out the back, plus street parking on both sides of End Street.

Specialty coffee, made to order
The espresso bar is the heart of it. Beans on the shelf come from ST. ALi and Wood and Co Coffee Roasters, and the coffee gets made to order rather than poured in a rush.

Breakfast, light lunch, sweet things
A rotating seasonal menu of breakfast plates, light lunches and sweet treats. The Reuben, made with home cooked corned beef, and the toasties are what regulars keep coming back for.

Premium gluten free choices
Gluten free isn't an afterthought here. There are proper gluten free options on the menu, including the sweet side of it.

Beans and brewing gear to take home

There are big tables that suit a group, smaller ones if you'd rather not be in the middle of it, and seats outside on the lawn when the weather's good. It works for a quick takeaway on the way to work and it works for two hours with a newspaper.

There's usually a jigsaw on the go near the counter, board games on the shelf, and books and papers to read. Kids are fine. Dogs are more than fine.

What's on

More than an espresso bar. A place things happen in.

We host local live music gigs and community link up events, and we like being the casual, inspiring room where artists, remote workers and designers get their thinking done over a decent coffee.

Great spot that’s full of locals. You can park front or back and is dog friendly. Ham toastie was great. Reubens with home cooked corn beef was excellent. Coffee made to order.

Nice vibe inside with a real warm and homely feel, plenty of space, and layback ambience. Not too much by way of adornments but a couple of nice local artisan products on offer.

Coffee came very highly recommended, and lived up to my very high expectations. The Carrot Cake was delicious. Plenty of space, inside and out, and plenty to do, for kids and adults. They have a Jigsaw Puzzle on the go near the Counter, neat idea.
